GSA Vocal Music Summer Workshops
The Governor's School for the Arts Vocal Music Department will be hosting a summer workshop series for rising 7th- 10th graders each Wednesday from July 2-August 20, 2025, 10:00 am-12:00 pm. Bruton Parish Candlelight Concerts & Historic Organ Recitals, June, 2025
Continuing a tradition begun by our 18th-century organist, Peter Pelham, Bruton Parish presents more than 120 recitals and concert programs annually in its Candlelight Concert series. Instrumental and choral groups from all over the United States and other countries perform in our historic church, interspersed with organ and harpsichord recitals by our own splendid musicians. The Candlelight and outdoor concerts will last approximately 45 minutes, and the Wren Recitals will last just 30 minutes.  All are non-ticketed and open to the public, with freewill offerings gratefully received. Music by the Bay is back! Advocatorum Musicis in Concert
The Susan A. & Joseph N. Graif Foundation Inc. presents Advocatorum Musicis (Latin for “musical lawyers”) are a delightful trio from New Jersey who, in addition to practicing law in their respective fields of family, bankruptcy, and criminal law, have performed together for almost twenty years in cabarets, musical theater, and recital formats. VAF: Laufey: A Night at the Symphony with Virginia Symphony Orchestra
Laufey returns to Virginia Arts Festival in a new partnership with Chartway Arena. The jazz singer, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer will be joined by the Virginia Symphony Orchestra. “As a musician, my goal is to bring jazz and classical music to my generation,” declares GRAMMY-winning composer, singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Laufey. SAF: Terrific Teen Talent
The Sundays at Four 2024-2025 Season comes to a close with the annual Terrific Teen Talent Recital. Teens selected by audition perform mini recitals on this program. They and their collaborating accompanist are paid by SAF for their performance. Sometime during the year, an outstanding student is given the opportunity to perform a solo recital. VCC Auditions
Do you know a child who loves to sing? The Virginia Children’s Chorus will hold auditions for new students for the 2025-2026 season on Saturday 8/16, Monday 8/18, and Tuesday 8/19/2025. These auditions will be held at our Norfolk location - Talbot Park Baptist Church, 6919 Granby St., Norfolk. All audition timeslots are scheduled in advance. Students who audition this summer will begin classes on 9/6/2025 or during the week of 9/8/2025. We welcome boys and girls in grades K to 12 – from young beginners to serious high school singers. Tuition assistance is available. All students receive excellent voice training and perform in concert while making new friends and having fun!
